Our fortunes have unfolded not as well,
as leaders in the past promised surely that they would.
Our wealth has faltered, expenses with persistence swells,
as some leaders of today decree that all is good.
Fresh change we sense as two candidates debate.
One calls our course as true and all is safe and well.
The other fumes and swears to make our country great,
and sees the status quo as toxic, bid adieu and straight to hell.
So stay the weakened course we tread today?
Or in silence vote for change from what we’ve lived?
For to not, we’ll with our children’s future pay,
pray tell why not to them, a brighter future give?
Perhaps a risky gamble to escape our fate,
is wiser than accepting the status quo as bait.
